CHINA | China Immigration Process Continues to See Regional Changes

Following the 1st July nation-wide changes to the Chinese immigration process and visa categories, changes continue to be announced on a more regional level.

Harbin, China: Beginning 25 September 2013, the Harbin Labor Bureau now requires that the applications for an Employment License and Work Permit be submitted online prior to the actual physical filing. For this requirement, a complete scanned copy of the entire application package will be needed, and all original documents will then be needed for the physical filing to follow. The estimated processing time for these applications is approximately 5 to 10 working days for each.

Tianjin, China: Beginning 30 September 2013, the Tianjin Labor Bureau now requires an original and legalized Police Clearance Certificate from the employee’s home country will be required for the Employment License and Work Permit application. This document must also be translated into Chinese by a local Chinese translation company and submitted with the original document.
