IRELAND | Bulgarian and Romanian Nationals will now be able to work in Ireland without a Work Permit: End of Transitional Measures

The Irish Government decided on 17th July 2012 to cease restrictions on labour market access in respect of Bulgarian and Romanian nationals, to the Irish labour market, with effect from the 1st January 2012.

We understand that this has been the subject a detailed policy examination ending on 17th July. The policy change was announced July 23, 2012.

Bulgarian & Romanian Nationals are no longer permit required and can now work freely in Ireland without the need of work permits form the Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation. The Government press release states that this change takes effect from 1st January 2012.

The DJEI has confirmed to us that this change has an immediate effect.
