MOZAMBIQUE | VisaALERT - Four New Visa Categories Announced

June 30, 2015

Announced at the beginning of June, the Mozambique immigration authorities will soon roll out several new visa categories. These new visas will not only allow for clearer immigration routes for these foreign nationals, but it will also allow the authorities to monitor more closely the number of foreign nationals entering the country and their general purposes of stay. Thus, the following new visa categories will soon be available to eligible applicants:

 • Temporary Stay Visa - for spouses and minor children of Work Permit holders. This visa will be granted for a period of up to one (1) year and allow for multiple entries into the country;

Crew Transit Visa – this visa will be issued at Mozambique Ports-of-Entry and will allow for the transfer of crews from ship to ship, or from ship to aircraft (and vice versa). The crew transit visa will be issued for a validity of 72 hours;
Investors Visa – for significant investors or representatives of invest companies. Monetary investment must be at least USD $50 million and approved by the Council of Ministers; and
Visa for Sports and Cultural Activities – for accredited athletes or performers engaging in sports and cultural activities.

Please note, these new immigration categories were introduced as part of new regulations approved earlier this year (Decree No. 108/2014, December 31); however, they have not yet been made available to the public. At the time of this writing, it remains unclear when these new visa categories will be fully rolled out. Pro-Link GLOBAL continues to monitor the government announcements regarding these new visa categories and will report on any relevant updates as they are made available.
